there are some great software stores on the web. A good online software store will carry a
huge range of software from many different software companies and software types such as
website software or accounting software.

As many companies offer the same types of business software
I always do a little research by looking in computer magazines and by visiting online
resources to find out what the best software solutions are. One of the popular PC
magazines I use for this carries an excellent monthly review of all the popular areas of
computing such as hardware, software and peripherals and they also give the best place to
source the particular item at the best price.
The software section of the reviews is particularly good
and is split down in to specific software sections such as website software, photo editing
software, accounting software, and office software.
Once I have an idea of the best types of software I then
look at online reviews of the software. Software stores often provide reviews of the
software they carry. However, these can be quite brief due to space limitations. More in
depth reviews can be readily found with a quick search of the internet.
What Level of Small Business Software to buy?
Many of the market leaders of the various types of software
such as Adobe for photo editing software and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) for office software
are fragmenting their once single product range into different software solutions and also
different software levels. So, it is quite common to be able to buy software with same
software product name e.g. Microsoft Office but it is now available in different levels.
You can often buy an entry level product, a mid-level
product, an advanced level and even a corporate level version of the same software. The
difference between the different levels is the amount of functionality that each one
offers. Continuing with the Microsoft Office example, this will mean that only a few of
the Office products are available in the entry level software but all products are
available in their advanced level versions.
Choosing which level of website software, accounting
software, photo editing software or office software to buy is down to personal preference
and individual requirements. If money is not an issue it may be worth looking at the
advanced editions to have all the functionality at your fingertips.
