| MacroWorx has just released version 2.0 of
its award-winning Filing Cabinets software, a powerful Windows desktop management utility
designed to clear up cluttered desktops by storing all your favorite shortcuts in discrete
cabinets that slide in and out from the sides of the screen.
Filing Cabinets allows the user to group similarly
categorized shortcuts into user specified, colored Cabinets to allow for faster
identification and location of their shortcuts. Completely drag and drop, adding a new
shortcut to a cabinet is as easy as dragging the file, folder or Internet shortcut
directly from your desktop or Windows Explorer, into the cabinet you wish to add it into.
Once created, each Cabinet shortcut is editable to allow
the user to modify the icon that is used for that shortcut, or modify the shortcut name if
they so desired. Version 2.0 of Filing Cabinets introduces true 32bit color icon support
(new to Windows XP) allowing for higher resolution, more brilliantly colored Cabinet icon
graphics for your shortcuts. New multi-monitor support and flexible cabinet placement
allows the user to position their Cabinets against any border of either screen and even
offers a "resistance" setting for those Cabinets placed on either side of an
adjoining screen, that allows users to specify the amount of force required in order to
move the cursor through that Cabinet before being able to enter into the adjacent screen.
Also new to V2.0 is the ability to assign multiple
shortcuts of the same type (Word docs, Excel spreadsheets, Internet shortcuts etc) to a
single Cabinet shortcut, allowing for a more efficient use of space. Accessing these
Cabinet buttons provides the user a drop down list of the associated shortcuts, from which
they simply select one to execute it.
Filing Cabinets also provides the ability to directly
access your favorite folders, making it easy to access diverse groups of files quickly.
Like standard shortcuts, creating a folder shortcut in a Cabinet is as simple as dragging
the desired folder directly from Windows Explorer into the desired Cabinet.
Intuitive to use, Filing Cabinets comes complete with an
automatic updater that checks for, downloads and installs any updates to Filing Cabinets
as they become available. Along side this, MacroWorx also expects to release a range of
plugs ins for its Cabinets product shortly, including a detailed developer kit for those
that wish to build their own.
Currently in development is a To-Do list plug-in, World
time plug-in, Zip plug-in and even rumors of an MP3 Player plug-in designed to fully
integrate into Filing Cabinets sliding cabinet technology.
Filing Cabinets is software designed to save you time
through the introduction of efficiencies gained by clever organization of commonly
accessed files, folders and shortcuts. Completely unique in its offering to the Windows
desktop market, MacroWorx Filing Cabinets distinguishes itself as the market leader for
desktop management software, receiving continuous acclaim from software review publishers
all around the world.
MacroWorx Filing Cabinets V2.0 fully supports Windows
98/Me/NT4/2000/XP, costs only $19.95(US) for a single-user license and may be purchased
securely online from within the Filing Cabinets administration. Filing Cabinets is
