Outlook 2000 Tip:
Export Your Microsoft
Outlook 2000 Contacts to Disk or CD-R
By Joshua Feinberg
Do you travel a lot for business? Do you need access to
your Microsoft Outlook 2000 Contacts folder when you're out of the office and have no
physical connection to your PC or LAN?
You can take your Contacts with you and access them from
any PC running Microsoft Outlook, Access or Excel. Here's how:
In Microsoft Outlook 2000, choose the Import and Export
command from the File pull-down menu.
Highlight Export to a File and click Next.
Now choose the type of file to create - a Microsoft Excel
workbook, a Microsoft Access database, or a Microsoft Outlook Personal Folder File (.pst).
Pick the folder to export from - your Contacts folder.
Finally, name your file and tell the Wizard where to save
the exported file. You can use the Browse button to select your already formatted disk or
CD-R. Also, take a moment to map your data fields to ensure your new file will turn out as
expected.
Click Finish and you're done! (And, don't forget to test
the exported file before you leave the office.)
